In the first of many articles as part of our buildup to the playoffs, West Lothian Wolves Chairperson, Paul Meldrum discusses his thoughts on the playoffs from a club point of view.

" I love the business end of the season.
I love how the training intensifies, the bleachers are more frenetic (if that were possible), the coaches lose their usually super cool demeanour and the coolest, calmest guys in the room are the players.
The season is a long haul, starting way before a ball is bounced in a gym in August. The closed season preparation is all done to make the year go smoothly, and all to build to this month's events. This leaves guys like me and the planners to sit back and enjoy the action."
"Our teams have no presumptions of playoff success at the beginning of the season but it is the hard work of everyone who helps us get to this point.
Every team across the country is improving every week; just to keep pace requires 100% effort from parents, players and coaches.
And we have clearly done this ..... in spades.
And the beauty of basketball is that with the playoffs structure, we get to pit our own development once again against teams who we will have played months before.
To have all of our youth teams and our seniors on the brink of the playoffs is astonishing."
"Our player's development relies on us having these opportunities. The chance to pit our skills against our peers in pressure situations will bring out the best in us all. These opportunities are earned with months of hard graft and will provide memories the last forever ..... for us all; players, coaches and those important supporters in the bleachers.
Whatever happens over the next few weeks, I am personally so proud of the way everyone had conducted themselves over the season so far. Our commitment and passion for the Wolves and our values has been humbling.
In the next few weeks, lets all enjoy the basketball and the occasion of it all. Support our players before, during and after the 40 minutes on the hardwood ....... and we will see where we are when the music stops.
Lets go Wolves!!!
