West Lothian Wolves Leadership Team
The West Lothian Wolves Basketball Club is run by a small number of volunteers. They deal with all aspects of the club, from player development, to business planning and of course the day to day operations of running a 200 member strong club. Please see below for the current committee members along with contact details for each.
Paul has been developing and growing the club for many years now. And whilst he is still involved as a coach, the majority of his energies are spent in his Chairman role. Pauls focus is to grow the club in a sustainable manner. And as custodian of the clubs culture, ensures that the day to day activities are guided by the clubs own values.
Paul himself says “Basketball is a simple game. The Wolves aim to make it as accessible to anyone who wants to give it a try, play for fun or in competition. My role in the leadership team is wide reaching, but I spend much of my time vetting some of Andy and Amanda’s crazy ideas” – Paul
Andrew has been playing and coaching basketball now for over 20 years and has fulfilled a number of roles within the club. He is currently coaching the Senior Men & Under 18 Junior Men teams. His Treasurer role is to manage our club income and expenditure, monitoring costs against our business plan and ensuring that we are financially sustainable in the long term and of course he is a custodian of the clubs values.
Andy says “I really feel that West Lothian is a great place to play basketball for your whole playing career. Our aim is to keep people in the sport throughout their lives, not just when they are young. We want to give every member of the family an opportunity to play to the standard they are happy with. The Treasurers role requires care & detail but much of my time is spent sense checking Paul & Amanda’s more outlandish ideas for the club.” - Andy
Amanda now has her whole family involved with basketball, her husband is now a club coach and her three children are all training and playing for the Wolves (and Scotland too!!!! WOW). Amanda is the organisational wizard behind the club ensuring the communication lines between our governing body, BasketBallScotland, and all 200+ of us kept informed for important information. And is the real guardian of the clubs Values.
'My family gets so much out of being a West Lothian Wolf. They have made so many friends, are fit and active and they love playing the sport. The secretaries’ role has given me an extended family of 200 or so, and I love it. Just don’t all come round for tea at once. The role involves lots of administrative tasks but I am increasingly spending more time toning down Paul & Andy’s frankly ridiculous ideas for the club. ' Amanda
