The senior ladies had two games in a matter of days; firstly against Grangemouth on 3 November and then league leaders Pentland Star on 7 November.
Against Grangemouth the Wolves started well but Grangemouth went into the 2nd quarter with a 3-point lead. In the 2nd quarter the Wolves struggled to make the plays and secure the baskets, by half time the defecit had opened to the early teens. After half time the Wolves rallied and dug deep to keep the pressure on Grangemouth. Good shooting by the Wolves and strong defence meant that they were very much back in the game and they won the 2nd half. The final score was 45 - 40 to Grangemouth. G.Hughes was the top scorer with fifteen points.
Against Pentland Star, it was Star who took advantage of a slow start by the Wolves. Once again Wolves finding it difficult to make the plays and find their shots! After re-grouping and a much needed talking to by coach W.Marshall it was a different Wolves team who came out for the 3rd quarter, they started to take the game to Star and had them on the back foot most of the 3rd and 4th quarter! Some fast breaks and great shots from K.McGowan and F.Troestler made it a much more interesting game and showed that if the Wolves can start quicker it will make it difficult for any team in the league! Wolves unfortunately lost the game 34 - 54. K.McGowan was top scorer with 12 points.
The Wolves hope to build on these strong performances when they take on Dunfermline steel on Monday night at Linlithgow Academy - 8pm tip. Hope to see you there. Let's go Wolves!
