The Wolves Senior Men Division 1 team faced off against the Edinburgh based Spartans on Saturday in Lothian League action. The Wolves took an early 2 nothing lead on a nice drive and score from Grant Dickson, and they never relinquished the lead. This, however did not mean it was an easy game for the men to win. The Spartans have a number of strong players who can score from 3 point range. The Wolves have great interior defense and a great team ethos, which allowed them to win this physical game by 13 points. The score at the end of the first quarter was 16-11 to the Wolves. This lead was stretched to 40-24 at the half with the Wolves making a brilliant run of defensive stops followed by scoring on the other end.
The Wolves lost the third quarter as the Spartans became agressive and started to pull the lead back. The Spartans relied on their three point shooting to score 22 points in the quarter. The Wolves went into the forth quarter with a small lead of six points, with the score being 52-46. The Wolves responded with a 23 point quarter in the fourth and used tough defense and smart play to push the lead out to 13 points.
Owen Cook lead all scorers with 21 points, with Grant and Marc Dickson supporting with 14 points each, Andy Smyth chipping in 13 points, Andy Sturrock adding 8 and Ben O'Connell scoring
